Single Parent (again)

I'm a single parent for the 2nd week in a row. The boys and I got home yesterday, and Rob flew to Toronto this evening for a 4 day conference at Winners head office in Missasaga. He's staying at the hotel which is right in the airport. He'll be home Thursday night, and luckily we'll have Friday together before he goes back to work again!

One of my favorites

More pictures!

Pictures

Joey has been sleeping now for a couple hours and I have had time to do some scanning.

We're back!

We got back early yesterday morning. Of course, not without drama, but I will post about that later. Joey just went down for a nap and since he's not feeling the best I'm not sure how much time I have.

Colby fell in love with Newfoundland. From the moment we arrived, he was constantly on the go. My Uncle Clar was quite taken with Joey, as was everyone. The trip was harder than I thought it would be physically, as Joey didn't want to settle with anyone but me. I did manage to slip in "a few" pictures, and will post them as I scan them. It was "squid jiggin" time in Newfoundland, and for all you mainlanders, it means the squid are in the harbour and all the boats are out to catch them. It's a very busy time for local fishplants, and a good way to make a lot of quick money. I went down to the wharf to get pictures and Kellie came with me. Of course, I will do almost anything for the "right picture" and had Kellie paranoid that I was going to fall into the water. My only response to this was "Just catch my camera!"

Busy week

I decided at the beginning of the week because of the extrodinary seat sales at Canjet right now, I would go with mom and dad to Newfoundland and take the boys. Colby is very excited about his first plane ride. I'm excited to take him over. It sucks that Rob is not coming with us, but since he just returned from his month of paternity leave, he really can't take another week off yet!

I took this picture of "my husbands" last night as they were trying to decide how they were going to put the gate back up and still be able to get the quad through it. When they bought the quad, they took the gate down and I have been nagging them ever since to put it back up. I missed just before this picture when they actually had the quad stuck in the opening of the gate. Oh well, my gate is back up and that's all that matters!

My cousin Angela had her baby yesterday. 9.3lbs I believe she was. Full head of black hair and very beautiful. I couldn't resist zipping in there today to get a peek and a snuggle! I can't believe Joey was that small only 8 weeks ago! The great thing about it is the kids, who are 2nd cousins, are exactly 2 months apart! Summer was born on her due date, which is very rare for a first baby!

The boys went to bed early tonight and I'm home all alone. This is my "mommy treat" at the end of the night! And yes folks, that IS a glass of wine in the middle! It's Blueberry wine from Newfoundland, and I just love it!

Introducing Chester

We bought yet another vehicle yesterday. Rob's truck is old and in constant need of repair. When we had to have it towed home (again) last week I thought "Enough is enough!" So, we're selling the truck. Rob found a great deal on a Nissan Pathfinder which fits all our needs. It's big enough for Rob to take both kids in, and it is still a 4 wheel drive for him to take off roading. We have named all our vehciles so far, and since this was bought in Chester, we named him Chester.

I'm a believer

I have heard many people talking about "Crocs", the newest fad in my opinion. I thought, and still do think, that they are probably the ugliest shoes on the market today. So, when my mom showed up with a pair, I thought "Mom, how could you waste your money like that?" UNTIL I wore them. They really are the MOST comfortable shoes I have ever owed. My feet don't get hot and they're great in this province where it seems to rain every 5 minutes. So, as of yesterday, I'm a Croc owner and lover.

We also spent time at Rob's parents place last night as his dad has retired. There was a houseful of people, music, singing and lots of food. I ended up downstairs with the kids trying to put the baby asleep and this is how Rob found me. (The OTHER cutie pie is Rebecca, my neice and god daughter)

Proves I'm getting older

My mother in law sent an email tonight that really makes me realize I am getting older. This slideshow is very moving, and now that I am a parent I can relate. It also makes me think of my grandparents from my parents point of view, as some of it I can remember my parents going through. If ya want a good pull at the heart strings, press here

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KASSIE

I meant to post this last night to get it in on her birthday but hea, better late than never.

Victoria Falls

Rob and I had a "no kids" day yesterday. Lindsay took Colby with her boys and Jean took Joey for the day. Rob and I went to Murphy's in Truro (the BEST fish and chips this side of NL) and then went for a great walk through Victoria Park. I did not know that this little piece of heaven was here and can't wait to go back again. We took other pictures with the "good" camera but this is just a preview of what the park looks like.

She's walking!

We received an email from Adam yesterday advising us that Adelle took her first unassisted steps! WOO HOO ADELLE! Look out Roger! (the dog)

Baptism Day

I'm the first to admit that I don't like pictures of myself, but I do like this one.

Joey was awake when we went into the church, and then fell asleep and slept through the entire ceremony, including the water! The outfit he's wearing is the same one that Colby wore, which is the same one that Rob wore many, many moons ago.

We also took him to his first fireworks on Friday night for Canada day. Again, he fell asleep just before the fireworks and slept right through them! At least we know he's a sound sleeper!
