Moisseur Eggbert Homer Schwartz

This drives Rob absoutely crazy. We cannot decide on a name for this little guy. This poor child is going to come from this hospital Baby Boy Schwartz. For all who know me, I am obsessed with the Outlander series, and am in the process of reading the final book. One of the characters in the book had a baby, and when she was pregnant she called the baby Moisseur Eggbert. Poor Rob hates any reference to this series, so when I refer to the baby as Eggbert, he gets really mad. Which of course makes me want to do it more. So, Moisseur Eggbert progressed into Eggbert Homer, and as to where Homer came from, I don't know. So, now the joke is that if we cannot come up with a name, his name will be Eggbert Homer. Though, IF he happens to appear on May 1, I am really going to fight for Jamie, as the main character in the Outlander series is named Jamie and his birthday is on May 1. His full name is James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser, and surely he can decide on ONE of those names?!?!?!?!

Week 28

Thursday was week 28. This little boy is very active and I am getting very big. I am slowing down now and don't have nearly the energy I did. All I want to do is sleep. My doctors appointments have been moved to 2 weeks apart now, as opposed to a month.

We bought a DVD burner on the weekend, and I'm very anxious to try it out. Rob bought a laptop for a joke of a price, let's just say it didn't come with a receipt and no questions should be asked about it. It works. It's beautiful. It has a DVD player in it so Colby also loves it.

We took Colby skating again yesterday. He decided he did't want to use the red skating support thingie, and was skating by himself. It's amazing how quick kids pick up on these things.

I had to do it

I just finished reading Tawny's blog about Jaquin Phoenix and how he is #1 through 5 on her Friends Top 5 list. I had to add my own to that. Do I really need to say more?

The Flasher!

We had our ultrasound appointment on Friday. It was in addition to the monthly check up that I have every month, which is now changing to every 2 weeks as I am now in the 3rd trimester. Everything with the appointment went great, with the exception that my iron is low. I will be starting iron supplements on Monday. Yummy. Did I mention that the baby's a boy??? Yeppers, we're having a boy! I'm very excited. Colby was such a fun baby, that I'm really excited to be having another boy. We have settled on a name that we both love, but have decided that we're not telling anyone the name until he's born. Some things we need to keep secret!

First time skating

We took Colby skating for the first time today. He was a little nervous initially but by the end of it he loved it and was skating on his own. We were only on the ice for 20 minutes. I'm impressed. We'll be taking him again next week.

Week 27

FROM: YOUR PREGNANCY WEEK BY WEEK. WEEK 27.

Mother:

Welcome to the third trimester! The home stretch! Around this time you will begin to really put on the weight, this will last until about week thirty-six. Although some cultures dictate otherwise, weight gained during pregnancy is not fat or unhealthy, but rather, necessary for a healthy pregnancy and baby.

The weight that you gain will be distributed in several places. In the beginning of pregnancy you may have noticed that your breasts got larger. The average breast before pregnancy weighs about 7 ounces and during pregnancy each breast can weigh up to an average of 28 ounces! Some of the weight will go to body fluids (amniotic fluid, blood volume, etc.). Remember that your blood volume increase by 30-50% during pregnancy. And let's not forget the baby and the placenta! Add this to a few measly pounds put on as maternal fat stores, and you average about 25-30 pounds.

The most important thing to remember is that a healthy diet is more important than what you gain. Some women will gain more, as in the case of women who were underweight to begin with, and those carrying multiple babies. While others will gain less. Pregnancy is not the time to go on a reducing diet. Even if you are overweight, reducing can actually harm the baby by burning your maternal fat stores sometimes toxins can be released that are harmful to the baby.

Baby:

Your baby's skin is very wrinkled from floating in water. This will stay this way until a few weeks after birth as your newborn fills out into a baby. Although take heart in the fact that your baby's looks are assuming the looks that they will have at birth! Baby has also hit the 2 pound mark (900 grams).

I'm certainly feeling a 2lb baby right now!

Making cookies

We decided, since we couldn't get out, that we would make cookies. Now I see why when it says "yield 2 dozen" I never get that. I went to the living room to answer the phone and this is what I saw when I came back.
