This Isn't Shark Tale!

We went to our second movie today. It was Shall We Dance. I loved it. Lindsay loved it. Colby.. well, Colby got bored. Typical male. As the movie started, he looked at me with a funny look and said, "Mommy, that's not Shark Tale!". I absoutely am now in love with Richard Gere. Again. For those who have seen it, the escalator scene killed me. The merger has finally gone through with ATT Wireless and Cingular wireless, making Cingular the single largest wireless company in the US. And we now have Cingular ID's. Guess it's Cingular wireless for us after all!

Tall, Dark and Yummy!

This has been quite the week. This is the first time that I have to sit and update. The week started last Sunday when we had Rob's grandmother over for supper. It was her first time in our new house. I admit, I am ashamed of this as she only lives in Dartmouth. Rob and I have made a vow to bring her over more often. Colby adores her, and I think it is very important for him to know and have memories of his great grandmother for when he's older. And she adores him. And she's soo funny. She is an amazing lady and I'm proud to be able to call her Nan. On either Tuesday or Wednesday morning, ( I admit I don't remember which) I get a call from ADT Security. Rob's cousin Lynn and her family live just up the road from us and put us as a contact for her security system. They called stating that there was an alarm going off at Lynn's house and they could not get an answer at the house. For, of course, I asked him, Well, do I need to go down? His response. "I can't tell you that.". So I asked him what I needed to do. He replied, rather curtly, " I can't tell you that either". So, out of frusteration I asked him, "Well, why did you call me then?" He said, "There's another person on the contact list, I"ll call them". I said no, I only live 5 minutes away, I"ll go down. So, in a panic, Colby and I are still in our jammies, we go down to wait for the cops. I didn't have Lynn's cell number on me, but I did remember when they first moved her that Don gave me her cell number and I wrote it on the inside back cover of a book I was reading. So, since the house looked secure, (Which is a good thing, because the most I would have been able to do if there was a burglar was to scare him with my wonderful bed-head haird0) I ran home and ripped apart my bookshelf looking for the book. I found it, called Lynn, who was at Sobey's and she came right home. I went in the house with her, (her poor cats were beside themselves as the alarm at this point would have been going for approximately 30 minutes) the cop showed up. Well, let me tell you, I would have set the alarm again if I knew this man would come back! He was AMAZING. There is something about tall, dark, handsome AND in uniform! YUM! Right Lynn?! We have also had a death in the family. We set up a fishtank for Colby a couple months ago and most of the fish died. We initially couldn't figure out why. I had the water tested at a pet store and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. We were down to 2 fish. There was a pure white fish that Colby has called Kevin since we had it. I have no idea where the name Kevin came from. He was doing the same thing that all the other fish did (looked like he was gasping for air) and I found out that it was amonia poisoning. Kassie got me something to balance the amonia and it looked like he was coming around. Then he died. So, we decided to completly empty the tank (we have silicia sand on the bottom that was too fine so we changed to a bigger grain). We have 2 fish left, a jewel fish and an algae eater. The jewel has survived everything so far. We had him and the algae eater in a bucket while we cleaned the tank. I walked up to Rob at one point, and after looking in the bucket I asked him, "Did you put the fish in the tank?" (We were waiting for the sand to settle as it was pretty cloudy. THE DAMN FISH JUMPED OUT OF THE BUCKET AND WAS ON THE FLOOR! It survived all the water stuff that killed all the other fish, and then attempts suiside! We put him back in the bucket and he started swimming around again. He's fine now. We put a cover over the opening on the top of the tank last night. I guess you could say he's on suiside watch. Damn fish. Oh, and most exciting of all, we're going to see his first concert! Colby loves CBC Kids in the mornings, and there is a host that comes on between shows who's name is Patty. He LOVES her. She is on tour with CBC and will be coming to Halifax on December 3rd. The tickets were 3.00 each. They went on sale yesterday at the Rebecca Cohn and the box office opened at 12. I got through the line at 12:19 and the entire centre section of the Cohn was SOLD OUT at that point. We are sitting on the right side, 9 rows up from the bottom. There will be 5 of us going. Colby and I, my girlfriend Sandra, and her twins, Alexander and Madeline. The concert is Patty and Clifford, the Big Red Dog, who Colby also loves. I think I'm more excited than he is!

First movie!

Well, it has been a very busy week. I met up with my long time friend Tawny last Friday, and we went to lunch. As teenagers, we spent many lunches and early evenings at Ponderosa, enjoying the salad bar. We went there for lunch and it was really great to catch up. We promised to meet up on Monday before she went home, but with Monday being the holiday, Rob home in the morning and me working, it just didn't work out. She was in town for the weekend for her sister Jody's wedding, so I know she was very busy with getting everything in. I'm just glad we got to spend a couple hours together to catch up. I have a wedding present here for her that I didn't want to send through the mail, so it looks like she may be getting it for her first anniversary at this rate as I forgot to bring it when we went to lunch. I also took Colby to see his first movie. We went to see Shark Tale with Lindsay and Cody. It is a program called Reel Babies at Empire Theatres, with the focus on care givers and kids. It had a change table set up, microwave for bottle warming, and toys and blankets on the floor. He loved it! He laughed like crazy. I am going to wait to see what the movie is for next week. It is on every second Wednesday, and coincidently, it is the Wednesday that I'm off. I am in the middle of planning his birthday party. It should be quite the crowd. Details are almost finalized.

You're the OTHER Adam

Well, Rob and I decided on Sunday, since we were both off, to make a "good" supper. Baked ham and scallopped potatoes. It's a good thing we did, as the phone rang at 5:10 and it was Adam Read in town for the weekend. It just happens to be one of his favorite meals. So, he appears for supper, and Colby initially was shy. Well this lasted for all of 2 minutes. Then, when he figured out it was Adam, he promptly asked, "Where is your computer?" (Adam Hennigar, AKA Uncle Adam, brought his laptop last time he came to the house). We explained to Colby that this was the OTHER Adam, and he spent the rest of the night calling him the "Other Adam". I think Adam was quite amazed at how clearly he talks. It has been almost a year since he has seen him. I am taking Colby to get his portraits done on Thursday. Thursday is going to be a very busy day. I think Rob and Adam are going out in the morning, I am meeting up with Tawny for lunch as she will be in town for her sister's wedding, and then to get Colby's portraits done at 3. Of course I am buying the disk and of COURSE they will be on the site later that night!

Colby and Rob are on their way from Amherst. Rob decided to go up yesterday at lunch time to spend the night, get in a round of golf this morning (which reportedly did not go so well) and then come home. I, for the first time in I don't know how long, had the house completly to myself. I stopped in to see Dad on my way home last night with gifts of coffee (tea for him), and an apple fritter for him. I am still trying to convince him to let me drive the Zamboni, but it is becoming a losing battle. I got home around 12:30 PM, and cleaned the house until 2. The caffeine from the midnight coffee made the cleaning possible. I also struck gold at a dollar store that is closing. I bought all the party paraphonalia for Colby's birthday, in The Cat in the Hat. Hats, balloons, party bags, crap to fill the party bags, table covers, and loads of other stuff. Considering the amount of people that I am inviting, (15 kids with parents), this was a great deal for me. (I have rented the "Beaver Bank Community Hall", and to those who know Beaver Bank, the "Brown Hall" at the top of Woodbine. My thought on this was parking. The park that I live in has narrow roads, and there just won't be enough parking.) The store is closing and everything is 50% off. Not bad for a dollar store! Mom bought 5 christmas gifts for people she worked with, and between her and I we filled 2 stockings for the brat and Anthony! We looked for yard sales, but I think yard sale season is almost offically over. We are going to a dinner theatre tonight, put on by Rob's mom's church. It should be a great time. And as an afterthought to the comment left by "Anonymous", who is the proud owner of the legs I hope Genevieve's baby does NOT get, I don't know who "Bobby" is. Last time I looked, my husband's name is ROB. You've known him for the better part of 8 years, you would think you would know his name by now! Short memories must be a side effect of having chicken legs. MISS ME ADAM?!.
