Day of freedom!

Rob and his dad went golfing this morning, and Colby went to spend the day with Jean. That means I have been on my own since 10am this morning. What a great feeling! As I'm sure any parent can appreciate, I don't get a whole lot of time by myself. I went out this morning with my brother for a bit, and now I'm going to fold a load of laundry and go take a long swim before work. I'm trying to locate a place that sells vinyl table cloth for Kelly and BJ's wedding that his relatively inexpensive. The only place is Partys R Us, and they're extremly expensive. Anyone know of any other place in metro that sells party supplies? Samco Bazaar is no longer in business. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Return of the Grand Am

I went back to the gym this morning and took Colby with me. Lindsay met me there with Cameron and Cody and Colby actually stayed in the daycare for the better part of an hour. I was extremly impressed. I have not been going because Colby wouldn't stay in the daycare. I would love to be able to get back into it. It seems a shame to pay for a membership that I can't use. I should also hopefully have the Grand Am back on Thursday. This little puddle jumper (as Dad calls it) is getting old very fast. I want to have the Grand Am for when we go away this weekend to Bridgewater for BJ and Kelly's shower. We are also hoping to take Koda to his first greyhound outing at Fisherman's Cove in Eastern Passage on Canada Day. Holy crap it's almost July 1st! BJ and Kelly are down, and I think BJ is working with our cousin Mike with his landscaping company. Only 3 more working days and then I have a 3 day weekend! I'm going to enjoy not ever having to work a stat holiday. This means from July through December I will have one long weekend every month!

Holy crap it's hot

31 freakin' degrees. Do I need to say more? Bring on the fall. I hate the summer heat. I long for cool easy sleeping nights and crisp fall leaves on the ground. I HATE THE HEAT.

This is for you Reads

I received an email from Genevieve wondering why I wasn't posting. The truth is, it has been a battle with Koda and the Kennel. He just doesn't want to be in it. I don't understand it. We stopped putting him in there at night and now he sleeps on our floor on his bed, but when I go to work I was putting him in there. Last night was the last straw. Rob came home and he had pooped in the kennel. I didn't think an animal would do that. So, this morning, when Colby and I went for groceries (BOGO at Sobey's, the only reason I'd shop there) I just left him to roam the house. HE WAS PERFECT! So, I think it's goodbye to the kennel. I should hopefully have my car back next week. This little Kia that I am in is a gutless car. I swear I can run faster than it. I know Koda can. They have to put 2 new doors on it and then paint it. I work today from 2-10:30 but I'm thinking on staying until 12:30 - 1ish and then I'm going back to work tomorrow morning for 6am to help set up with a charity yard sale we're having and then I'm going to work from 7-12ish. I took Wednesday off so I need to make up those hours. In the email I received from Genevieve yesterday, there were more pictures of Adelle. She is an absoutely beautiful little girl, and as much as it pains me NOT to post her picture I promised Genevieve I wouldn't. I also took a couple black and white pictures of her when she was here last weekend, and one of them is of Colby and Adelle on my bed. Adelle is sleeping and Colby is pretending to be as he is lying behind her. It's a stunning shot, if I do say so myself! I had it enlarged and I'm going to pick it up today. I'm going to frame it and hang it in my bedroom. I also took some colored pics of her and I have to pick that roll of film up today also. I'm still waiting to hear when her christening will be. Rob and I are going to make a weekend out of it. Colby is spending the weekend with someone and I am going to see if someone from the Greyhound Society will take Koda for the weekend. We're going to rent a car and drive to Cape Breton. I can't wait!

Big Daddy (Koda's daddy) Posted by Hello
This dog raced 85 races over 3 years. His stats are amazing. He also sired 249 puppies! He's quite the stud muffin! I now see where Koda gets his colouring.

This week just keeps getting better

I had the beginning of a cold sore yesterday, which I promptly medicated. I am the type of person that whenever I am under extreme stress I break out in cold sores. I got up this morning and it looks like I've been punched in the face. Can this week get any worse? My only shining light right now is that Rob is home today so we get to spend the day together and only 2 more sleeps and I get to meet my beautiful new god daughter!

Crash and boom!

This is how my day went yesterday. Do I really need to say more? The common answers are:
  • No, I wasn't hurt, nor were the people in the other car.
  • No, Colby and Koda were not with me.
  • Yes, it was my fault, sort of.

I was in the parking lot of Downsview, and there was no stop sign or any indication that I was going to cross traffic. Well, except for the car that was already there. I have a rental as the Grand Am is deemed undrivable as the frame in the door is bent. I'm off work now until Friday until all the stupid insurrance foolishness is settled. Can ya tell I'm just a bit bitter?

Goodbye to a dear friend

Today I said goodbye to someone who has been in my life for the past year. It was fate that brought us together, and even though we started off roughly, we developed a great relationship over the last year. Unfortunately, like all good things, our time together has come to an end. Maybe I'll see her again someday in passing. I know she's gone to a good home where she will be well cared for and loved. Goodbye, my 1996 Cavalier.

Night #1

Well, we made it through day and night #1. Honestly, I was a little concerned because as of midnight last night, despite many many trips outside, he had not gone to the bathroom. At 2 this morning, this problem was resolved with Koda and I outside in the yard and I really thought that he was never going to stop peeing. I nearly cried I was soo happy. He woke us by russling around in his kennel to let us know he needed to go out. He did the same thing this morning around 6ish with Rob, but after 2 attempts with Rob he wouldn't go. Needless to say, when I got up with him I was literally dragged to the yard so he could .. well, do his business. I am also really beginning to see his playful side this morning. Albeit, at 7am when I'm not used to being up it wasn't all that cute first thing, but seriously, how can you not love that face? It is now 7:31am, and I have watched him steal 2 face cloths to play with (which is hilarious to watch this big dog shake this little face cloth in his mouth! I will have to get him some chew toys today, but for now my one odd slipper finally has a purpose again!

Colby's soo excited! Posted by Hello
The new baby! Posted by Hello

Koda's big arrival!

Today is the big day. We found out today that his racing name was Double Deal and his color is Red Fawn. We are all really excited! Needless to say I will be taking the camera and Rob is at the moment checking to see if the video camera is charged. We found out that Koda was born in November 2002, which means he is almost exactly one year younger than Colby! Check in later today for pictures!

To the Read Family

Just because you have a new baby now doesn't mean that you should stop commenting on this blog. Don't think I didn't notice that the comments have drastically reduced to almost nothing since Adelle was born! You can type and feed you know! Just kidding. Leave a comment and let us know how everyone is settling in. Can't wait to see you in a few weeks! I have film bought already!

Monday morning.

I got pictures from Genevieve this morning of Adelle. She's absoutely beautiful, as I knew she would be. I also put together a signature frame that I had done for Colby's birthday. Just plain laziness on my part. I've had the frame since his birthday in November, and have had the picture that goes in it also. Just never put it together. So, finally, the frame is complete and in his bedroom. It's not hung on the wall though. At my rate it should be on the wall by October. Maybe.

The Telethon

I volunteered at the IWK telethon last night from 9-12. For all of you who were watching and were trying to figure out who was sitting over Steve Murphy's shoulder, well folks, that was me. I had a blast. We also found out that Koda will be here Friday. I can't wait. And Adam and Genevieve will be here in a couple of weeks with the baby. I can't wait to see her. I promised Genevieve that I wouldn't post a picture of her, and I won't (dammit!) but I can't wait to see her!

The Happy Couple!

BJ and Kelly Posted by Hello Here is the happy couple! We went to First Lake today to take pictures of them for the announcement for the paper. We had originally talked about doing their wedding pictures at the Bedford Waterfront, but we all agreed that this is closer and has more possibilities. We took pictures in the gazebo but they didn't turn out nearly as well as this one. It's their favorite also. I can't wait for the wedding!

Blah!

I'm finally doing monitors on my own at work now. Tonight was the first night that I worked independantly. I was really starting to feel unproductive, and even though the people I have been working with have been phenomonial, I feel like I'm slowing them down. I really feel like I'm starting to fit in to this department and am becoming very comfortable. We had a guy come and see the Cavalier tonight. Rob said he seemed very intersted and even called back tonight to say that he was really interested but wanted to go see a couple other cars. We have another guy coming tomorrow to see it. Here's hoping it goes soon as it's taking up too much room in the driveway. We have our 2nd step in the "Bring Koda Home" project happening on Sunday. They are coming to inspect the house to make sure that we are properly set up for a greyhound. We know that the next shipment of dogs come up in June, I just really need to know when so I can book some vacation time. I am also volunteering with the IWK Telethon this weekend. I will be answering phones from 9-12 on Saturday night. It should be fun. I will be bringing my phone/camera so I will have pics! I am loving the new phone. The picture quality isn't that bad either!

She's here!

Adelle Read was born yesterday at 5:40, weighing in at a very healthy 8lbs, 12 oz. Mommy and baby are doing really well. Daddy is very tired. Adam left a message on the machine last night and the poor thing sounded exhausted. He called my cell phone this morning and he sounds beat. Everyone came through with flying colors and they should be home at the end of the week. I can't wait for a picture!
