To hell with housework

I was attempting to clean up the kitchen today when I heard Joey squeal with delight. I turned around to see Colby playing with him, and Joey had great big "belly laughs". So I thought "To hell with housework" and quickly grabbed the camera.

Colby's favorite jammies right now are these camo ones. Rob had his hunting stuff out and Colby couldn't resist wearing this hat.

Colby has a real bad habit of running and sliding across the kitchen and livingroom floor. He has taken a few good spills, so out of frusteration I bought him "grippy" socks. I was feeling pretty smart about that, thinking I had just outsmarted him, until I looked at his feet tonight. I had to snap this picture while chuckling to myself. Only my kid would wear them upside down.

To the Cameron Family (warning: you will need tissues)

CAMERON, Alan Edward - 52, Mount Uniacke, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Mary (Slaunwhite) and Wilfred Cameron. While studying, and later graduating from St. Mary's University, Alan worked as a manager for Wandlyn Inns in Halifax and Antigonish. Following this, he thoroughly enjoyed a career of over 20 years as a publisher's representative in the book industry. He was a referee with Volleyball Nova Scotia and an avid golfer. Alan is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 29 years, Debra (Organ), as well as his daughters "the girls", who were a constant source of pride, Lindsay (Nick) Richards, Mount Uniacke; Kelly (Brian) Power, Amherst; and Jessica (Terry) Carew, Mount Uniacke; also by his adored grandchildren, Cameron and Cody Richards, Mount Uniacke; and Alan Power, Amherst; brother, Donald (Colleen) Cameron, Fort McMurray, Alta.; uncle, Scott Cameron, Wellington; parents-in-law, Ann-Marie and George Organ, Mount Uniacke; sister-in-law, Cynthia (Organ) Maxwell, Mount Uniacke; nieces and nephews, Andrew and Heather Cameron, Fort McMurray; Julia and Joey Maxwell, Mount Uniacke. Besides his parents, Alan was predeceased by his uncle, Ivan Cameron; aunts, Jean Howlett, Annie Lively; brother-in-law, Joseph Organ. Visitation will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, Sackville Drive, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral, with reception to follow, in St. John's United Church in Fall River on Saturday at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to Wellington United Church or Nova Scotia Hospice Palliative Care Association. Family flowers only. On-line condolences may be made by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com

I resisted posting this prior to this for respect to the family. Al always treated us like family, even before BJ and Kelly married. He always remembered everything Colby said, and even when he was sick, remembered Colby's love of Nascar and ordered him a beautiful Nascar book that we received a few weeks ago. Kelly, her mom and sisters are just like family to us and our hearts and prayers are with them now. I know they read this blog and although I'm sure a few tears will be shed when they first see this (like mine now as I type this), but I wanted them to know that we love them very much.

Joe Power's eyes

For anyone who was lucky enough to have known my grandfather, you'll recognize the same "twinking blues" here. Thanks to my son, I'll never forget those eyes.

Playing with the camera

I love this picture of Rob. We went for a drive back to where he hunts and I snapped this as he was walking back to the truck. Can you see why I'm still here after 12 years?? *grin*
I have always told Rob that I enjoy him walking away from me as much as I enjoy him walking towards me, now everyone knows why!
Colby is very proud of his bike, as you can tell.
Why is it that when men push a baby stroller they do it walking off to the side one handed?? Again, Mr. Proud on his chopper bike!

SHE'S GONNA EAT HIM!!!

My sister has been trying to find new homes for some of her animals due to a change in her lifestyle. I put a post on a website called Second Chance Companions, that I found through Freecycle. I had put a post a while ago for her 2 rabbits and cage. Well, since that time, one of the rabbits has gone to the big pasture in the sky. I received an email a couple days ago, wondering if she still had the rabbits and cage. I emailed this person back with my sister's information and advised her to contact Kassie directly. Well, I received 3 more emails about the bunny and somehow this woman ended up with my phone number. She called me Sunday when I was at Mom's with Kassie, asking about the bunny. This woman had a real husky voice, and not to be a mean person or anything, "didn't have good english" if ya catch my drift. I passed the phone to my sister and couldn't help but laugh at my sister's facial expressions while speaking to this woman. All this woman was concerned about was the size of the rabbit and she wanted a picture. Ok, so anyone who knows me knows that deep down, I'm a rotten person. I really am. I've always said "My room in Hell is reserved with my name in gold letters on the door". All I could do was laugh. I could picture this little woman, in the back country somewhere, rubbing her hands together and smiling with her 3 teeth while heating up the pot and peeling vegetables. I'm convinced she wanted the rabbit to eat! My suspitions were confirmed tonight when I received this email from her:

Do you still have the rabbit and cage to give away? A girl i know might be giving you a call as i told her she could get the cage if she wanted it.Her husbands grandmother lives down there. She might pick up the rabbit for me as same time if you still have it? Which one is it?Thanks.Kathy

SHE'S TRYING TO GIVE AWAY THE CAGE ALREADY. OMG SHE REALLY WANTS TO EAT THE RABBIT!

Update

I really haven't had much time to post, but now that we're back and the kids are in bed, here I am. We drove to New Brunswick on Saturday when Rob got off work. Adam chickened out and picked a weekend with a woman over a weekend with Rob (I know, shocked me too) so we packed up the boys and the quad and away we went. We took Adam's silverado up, and the baby slept the entire way. We passed a mustang on the way (Colby's current favorite car) and when I pointed it out to him, he replied "Cool!" and then "Oh, but there's a GIRL driving it!" We arrived in Grand Bay - Westfield (I think it's technically Neperis (sp)) about 11PM. Colby was still wide awake, and when Joey woke it took a bit to get him back to sleep. Rob and the guys left the next day for a 4 hour quad ride, which he loved. Right up to the point that when he came back he realized that his glasses slipped out of the case and were crushed by the spare battery he was carrying in the side thingie. Luckily Adam had a spare pair that were slightly stronger than Rob's but the frames were almost identical. He's still wearing those now until we get out to get him a new pair. We had turkey dinner on Sunday and went to a bon fire Sunday night. She lives in a great neighourhood with a great bunch of people. I spent Monday morning taking pictures of Adelle and we were back on the road by 1Pm. We made it back home by about 6:30. Joey didn't sleep as much as the sun was beating in on him. Even though the windows in the Silverado are tinted I didn't make his tent that I have in the car and he wasn't happy with the sun. He cried for the better part of the last hour, which isn't bad considering it's a 5 hour trip.

I asked Colby to put away the sugar dish for me, and this is what I got. What a kid!

I never thought Jerry Springer would make me cry

I just finished watching Dancing with the Stars, which I admit I am hooked on. Jerry Springer said he wanted to be on the show long enough to learn the waltz for his daughter's wedding. He danced it beautifully, and sang the song "The Tennessee Waltz" to his partner as they were dancing. I bawled like a baby. He looked like such a proud dad, and you could tell that he was imagining that he was dancing with his daughter (his partner is young enough to be his daughter). At the end of the dance, he walked right over to his wife and hugged her tightly. She looked so proud. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house there, and there certainly were no dry eyes here either. Even his partner was crying. It was amazing. For the guy that I didn't think would make it through the first round, I'm now hoping he wins!
