My laugh of the night

I don't normally look at the searches that bring people to the blog, but one keeps coming up and making me laugh. Someone from Istanbul keeping googling "Dog Porn" and keeps ending up on the site. So I thought I would say DOG PORN, dog porn, dog porn. Sicko.

While surfing around Facebook the other night on my cousin's profile, I found these pictures she had taken when we were there in June and just had to post them here for all to see.

Package from Nanny

We received another care package from Nanny the day before yesterday. It had wonderful treats such as Peanut Butter chocolate covered granola bars, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, and of course, the all important Sunrise Bologna. Thanks Nanny!

The other exciting thing that has happened over the last 24 hours is that Joey has finally put a sentence together in english! This is a HUGE accomplishment for him. He looked at us last night during supper and said

"All done my cup".

This is the first time he has strung together 4 words. We were so excited we called Gramma to let her hear it!

Happy birthday my 2nd oldest cousin (I think, it is before coffee), and the only woman I know who picks out 2 complete outfits to wear each day, one to wear and one in a "just in case" emergency bag in the trunk of her car.

Might as well keep going with the explanations

It's true. I have 2 husbands. This is the other one. This is the "Adam" of Colby Adam. Rob and Adam have been friends since childhood. They practically grew up in each other's houses. I didn't really get to know Adam until after Rob and I moved back to Nova Scotia after being in Newfoundland for 2 years. Up until that point, he was the guy in the navy that called 2 times from BC on New Years. Once when it was midnight our time and then again 3 hours later and loaded drunk when it was midnight in BC. He came back to visit when we moved home and lived on our couch for a week. Again, remember I didn't really know this guy, and I was newly married. I walked out to my livingroom one day and there he is sound asleep in nothing but tight black undies. And he was really buff and tanned back then, being a Navy man and all. Only Adam. As much as we laugh about it, it just goes to show how comfortable he was around me. (I'm letting myself believe that, and not that Adam just didn't give a sweet damn, which really is closer to the truth). It was about a year or so later that he moved home for good, and back to my couch. He stayed with us for about a month and then although he had his own place he still managed to spend a fair amount of time on my couch. I'm not sure exactly when he started introducing me as his wife to people, but it was probably around then. (To complicate matters further, when Colby was born his mother became "Gramma Jeannine", which produced many puzzled stares when she would take him for the day and show off her "grandson", as everyone knew neither of her sons had children. ) Then came his -n-his quads (see here), which really sealed the deal for all of us. The best was when I would call his office to leave him a message that said "Please tell Adam to call his wife at home". He would still be laughing when he called me back. It didn't take the secretary long to recognize my voice after that.

He's a fantastic guy who is like a brother to Rob and is Uncle Adam to my boys. He was our first visitor when we moved to the North, and the one who was there for us when we went back home. And I know if he showed up here tomorrow he'd have a Tim Horton's coffee just the way I like it.

To answer Jackie's question, this is where Little Piece of Texas comes from. For any Survivor fans, you will know that the 2nd season of Survivor was on in 2001. I was pregnant in 2001 and we were having the hardest time coming up with a boy name. We had a girl name picked out (Ashleigh Erin), but could not decide on a boy. We already had the middle name picked out (Adam) but were having the hardest time finding a name that we both liked. I fell in love with the name Colby from Colby Donaldson. Neither one of us had heard it before, and loved the way Colby Adam sounded. So, although he TECHNICALLY wasn't named after Colby Donaldson, we did steal his name. So, since Colby Donaldson is from Texas, my Colby is my "little piece of Texas". Now you know.

Poor Chester has yet ANOTHER provincial licence plate. I think this one is my favorite. GGR baby!

Playing around today

We decided to get out of the house this morning and went adventuring around town. This is in a field just up the road from us, and the top picture was taken at the beach. I uploaded a bunch more to Facebook, because it loads faster than here. You can see the rest HERE

For Kara

Today is Kara and Matt's anniversary, and she put a few of her wedding pics on her blog. She got me thinking about our wedding, and I told her about my sneakers. This picture was taken at the end of the night, after a lot of dancing and laughing, as you can tell by my very red face. And no, I didn't get married in sneakers, but they were waiting for me in the car as soon as we got out of the church!

Gym night

Every 2 weeks the preschool I have Joey enrolled in has a family gym night at Colby's school where the kids can run and play. They all had a blast, as you can see. I think I have 2 little basketball players on my hands!

Not just another Saturday

Today my parents would have been celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that when I made a post last year wishing them a happy anniversary that it would be the last. I debated not posting this, but it is an important day to my mom and I wanted to commerate it. We love you mom.

We had heard that the Northern Lights were not as good here as they are the higher North. This was taken last night by Rob. They look just as good here as they did up there!

Colby's first driving lesson

Our suitcase

I kept meaning to blog about this and kept forgetting. When we were in Hay River planning on going home for vacation, I ordered 2 rolling carry-on suitcases for the plane from an online catalogue. I ordered 2, one for me and one for Rob. They were on sale for 20.00 each, which was a great deal. When the packages arrived, one was substancially heavier than the other. I double checked the label, and they were both mine and both labelled 21" rolling totes. When I got them home and opened them up, this is what the heavier package was. a 10 man Hilary 2 room tent. I kept it in the original box with the label on it, just in case it ended up on my bill the next month. My bill came, and it was only the 2 suitcases. Woo hoo! So, I ordered another suitcase (because at this point I only had 1 and needed 2), and secretly hoped for an air matress or a sleeping bag. :) But, I received what I ordered, and have never been billed for this. Dishonest? Yeppers. The alternative would have been to pay to ship it back to the company, and frankly I wasn't doing that. It's something we will get great use out of, and we joke that it was our "free gift with purchase". :)
