Pictures for Aunt Rosemary.. because she wanted new pictures of the boys

Kassie, Joey, Alan and Colby

Whatever they were talking about must have been really funny!

"Yeah Alan, these are Crocs. They are the best shoes in the world."

These two ran the hall for the better part of 1/2 an hour.

Bbqing in the thunder storm, trailer park style.

Dueling Lennys.

Kassie and Colby.

She's so proud of the shirt she bought him, and the shirt is true. :)

Casualites of supper

Eww. Eww. Eww.

"So, how do I eat this and not eat any of the guts?"

Nicole had to get her grandmother to show her how to clean it. I'm sure she still ate some of the guts. Needless to say I didn't eat any of it.

Riding Like a Pro

Colby only just learned the other day how to ride. He taught himself and he is doing great. We went for a ride down to the elementary school the other night and he has been hooked ever since!

Even more pictures

I forgot to post this the other day. Kassie ordered this shirt for Joe.

Dad's headstone.

My cousin Chanette's little girl.

For Genevieve. This is the McDonald's on Torbay Road. Does it make you crave a 3am pj run for milkshakes?

The only thing I really wanted to have before I left. True Newfie Fish -n- Chips. It was worth the wait.

Leavin' on a jet plane

Kassie's first time on an airplane. She was amazed with the sights.
B.J not so much.
Story to follow.

On the way out to Hr. Main, I wanted to use to Ipod as we were unsure of the radio stations. This is the "chummy" that plays the Ipod that plugs into the power source. BJ didn't realize how bad this looked until Kassie and I burst out laughing and she was quick enough to snap the picture before he moved.

"You're too old!"

I never thought I would hear those words coming out of my husband's mouth directed at me, but it happened tonight.

Rob was updating the Ipod for me, as we have VERY different taste in music. We were scrolling through the songs on the Ipod that I wanted to have on my playlist for when I am travelling this weekend. Here's how the conversation went:

Me: "I want that song."

Rob: "Which one?"

Me: "Pump It" (By the Blackeyed Peas)

Rob:"What? That one? You're 33 years old. You're too old for that."

Jerk.

Off to Newfoundland

Tomorrow I get back on a plane and go to Newfoundland with my mom, brother and sister. My dad is being buried on Saturday and Saturday night all us "kids" are hittin' George Street. Pictures to follow!

From Hay River to Halifax -- mixed up order

This is the difference between Air Canada and Canadian North. This is the meal Canadian North provided on the flight from Yellowknife to Edmonton.

Just for Kara. I was too hungry to take a picture of the bagel and chocolate chip muffin.

These are the play areas in the Calgary airport. Kept Joey amused for the entire time we were there.

Walking around Hay River airport. The round trip took approximately 30 seconds.

Always a safety kid!

Ice on Great Slave lake. Taken from the plane from Hay River to Yellowknife.

We saw this when we were driving around Yellowknife.

Just for Jen. Sorry it's not a quarter pounder but I thought the Big Mac and fries would do.

Finally some pictures.. there are a lot of them!

Colby's first motorcycle ride.
Guitar Hero. Colby's new obsession. Such a goof.

Joey and Chili.

The Great Gazoo.

Our cool dude.

Val, Lily and a very tired and jetlagged Joey and I. It was such a treat to meet them!

Guess who loves Guitar Hero as much as Colby?

Joey and Great Nannie.

We managed to find the Doodlebops guitar for him. He loves it!

Kassie and our nephew Alan.

Just for Nicole

I'm here sitting in my in law's basement with my SIL Nicole sitting here beside me. She just told me it has been 3 days since I posted and there is no excuse for not doing it. So this is for you, as you are leaving in your pink jammie pants. :)

So, to summarize our trip here, it was long and it honked. We left Hay River at 9:55 and arrived in Yellowknife at 10:30. From there we rented a car as we had a 4 hour layover until the next plane. We decided to take the boys to McDonald's for lunch before the next flight, which ended up being a HUGE mistake. Seeing as we have not had McDonald's in forever, we all ended up with a serious case of gut rot. Poor Colby was miserable, and Rob wasn't much better. From Yellowknife we flew to Edmonton, where we had to get our luggage and get on another plane to Calgary. When we picked up our luggage, one of the baggage people ripped the zipper right off one of our hockey bags. The hockey bag came around the corral with my pj pants hanging out. I don't think anything is missing but I'm not sure.

From there we flew to Calgary, and poor Colby had such bad belly pains and was so nauseous it was just a miserable flight. Once we arrived in Calgary, we had a 5 hour wait until the next flight. At this point we're all tired and cranky, and poor Colby and Rob are running back and forth to the bathroom. Luckily the Calgary airport has a great waiting lounge with oversized comfy chairs and great kids play areas. We watched the hockey game on the big screen at the bar in the airport, and from what I could see it was a great game.

We finally ended up on the plane to Halifax. We found out when we were in Calgary that they had put the boys and I in the emergency exit row, which would not be a problem except for the fact that children CANNOT be in this row. They ended up moving our seats to the very back of the plane and had Rob sitting by himself in the middle of the plane. Once we were on board the attendants managed to move some people around and Rob ended up sitting with us.

Here's a funny moment for ya. I didn't get a lot of sleep on the flight to Halifax, and Colby was awake for most of it. At one point, I finally fell asleep for Colby to wake me again to ask me something. I was so tired and so cranky at this point I was ready to cry. I looked outside and it was light outside and I looked at my watch and it was only 3AM. Rob was awake also and saw me look at my watch with a dirty look. When he asked what is wrong, I said:

"It's only 3Am! We still have 3.5 hours to go!"

Then he started to laugh. Really laugh. Then he showed me the Ipod and the clock that said 6AM. I hadn't changed my watch and was still on NWT time. I have lots of pictures that I have taken but have not uploaded them yet. We are having a family reunion / Joey's birthday party tomorrow and I will have lots of pictures to upload. And I have pictures just for you Jen. :)

Truckers blamed for leaving bottles of pee on Highway

I gotta say, I laughed. I'm sure this is a serious problem, but really, who pees in a bottle and leaves it on the side of the road? I know a few truckers, and am related to one, and I just don't see my uncle peeing in a bottle and leaving on the side of the road. Yes, if ya gotta go, you gotta go. But I would think most responsible people would toss it at the next rest stop. I don't see this being truckers. Well, not all of them anyways. I see this being the same idiots who throw their Tim Horton's cups and cigarette butts out their windows on the highways. I'm anxiously waiting your response to this Ivy. :) Click HERE for the article in today's Halifax Chronicle Herald.

Penguins force Game 6 with 3OT stunner

Holy crow what a game! Kennie and I watched it "together" via Facebook. You should've stayed up you wimp! :)

One year ago today

One year ago today, this young family from Halifax, NS stepped off the plane in Yellowknife NWT and was greeted by a woman named Connie who along with her husband David would end up being as close as family to us in the months ahead. We have had so many adventures, both good and bad (need I remind you about when "the truck got stuck"). We have grown so much closer as a family and have learned to cherish each moment as it comes. And now, 1 year later, we are about to embark on a new journey, one that will lead us to Saskatchewan, where Rob will be able to send emails that end with

Rob Schwartz

Store Manager

Ile-A-La Crosse, SK

I am so proud of my family and the life we have made for ourselves up here. Many people in the beginning thought we were crazy to pack up and move way up here, and of course we did too in the beginning. But I'm so glad we did.
