Alexandra Falls

We went adventuring this afternoon to Alexandra Falls, which is about 1/2 hour away from here. The only pictures I (Tina) can take credit for are the first and last pictures.

Joey doesn't look terribly impressed. Is he saying "The camera again! Come on already."

Today over lunch, I finally put my father-in-law's "Rob in Rae" together with "Rob, Tina and the boys". I feel like a doofus for not figuring it out before. (Worlds colliding, I guess.)

My father-in-law is named Byron, and he used to deliver trucked goods to you guys before you moved to Hay River. He has lent us one of your Ice Road Truckers DVDs.

OMG. Byron is (was) my favorite driver. He met my mom! He was delivering to the store and ended up at my house talking to Rob on the phone. They had a grand ole chat, with the newfie accents "just a flyin'"! We loved the "Ice Road Truckers" and when Byron mentioned his interest we had to that to him. Such a nice guy, always had a smile. He made me a little homesick with that accent though. :) Tell him we said hi. How did you finally make the connection?

I really feel dumb about it, actually. Byron has been talking about you guys for ages. Which sort of makes sense, considering the amount of time he spends in Behchoko.

My mother-in-law had cooked dinner, and somehow we started talking about Ice Road Truckers. Byron said that "Rob in Rae" had lent him three DVDs, and we could borrow the first one if we wanted to.

It hit me all of a sudden: "Rob from Northern?"

They asked how I knew you, and I tried to explain, but I don't think I did a very good job. :)

I am with you on the picky eater and multiple dinners thing. S2 was a HORRIBLE eater (still is but he has improved). One time in particular that he still talks about, we all left him at the table with carrots on his plate and told him he could come play with us when he was done eating his dinner. He sat there for AN HOUR staring at them. I felt so guilty but I was at my wits end with him not eating anything but mac and cheese or PB&J. (Just an fyi...he is now 6'2" and 220 lbs...tee hee...guess he worked in some food along the way:)

I'm sorry to leave this as a comment; I couldn't find another way to contact you. I am beginning a research project/blog site for mothers (www.mothersvoice.ca) and was wondering whether you could post an invitation on your site. Please let me know. If it's okay, I can send the invitation to you, that you could post. Thanks!
