As you may have seen on Facebook.....

After a couple days of working out the details, I have take a job here in town. I have been looking for a job since we moved here, but needed to find something full time to justify paying for daycare for Joey. Full time jobs in this town are hard to come by, especially when you are new to the community. I have accepted a job as a Pre-Kindergarden teacher at the preschool here in town. The perks - it's only 15 hours a week, Monday to Thursday. It's only 5 minutes from home. I have been volunteering in the preschool for the past 2 months on Wednesday mornings so all the staff and kids know me. I am employed through the elementary school so I am on salary as a part time teacher. The drawbacks - It is a split shift - 10:15- 11:30 and then 1 - 3:30, (although this is a perk in itself as it allows me to come home for lunch with Colby everyday as he is bussed home for lunch ). It is a temporary position - I am covering a maternity leave and the woman MAY be coming back in January or she may decide to wait and come back next September, which means I would have the job until June. The other thing is that I will be working in the preschool with the preschool teachers who already have their schedules and routines set with the kids. I admit I am a little nervous to go in and disrupt what they have started and potentially step on toes, as I am really going into this blind. But they are a good group of women, and hopefully will be patient with me as I try and stumble through this. The other thing which I haven't decided if it's a perk or a drawback is that Joey will be going to daycare full time. Luckily even though it's only a part time position I can afford to put him in daycare. This is the first time that he will be in a full time child care situation, and honestly it makes me a little heartsick. But, he's growing up and I know that this interaction with other kids will be good for him, and I'm sure as I get used to the idea of him not always being underfoot I'll enjoy my few hours a day of "mommy free" time. This gives me the chance to have some one on one time with Colby at lunch time everyday, and since I don't work on Fridays and I have to pay for full time care I'll have Fridays to get caught up with whatever I need to. Maybe. Or maybe I'll just keep him home. :)

Congratulations!
My advise is that you sort of play it by ear for starters - both at work and at home...
At work because you'll sooon be a member of a team working together with the children - things will fall in place as time goes by. You were hired because there was a position to fill, and I'm sure you'll do just fine!
Why don't you just enjoy those Fridays on your own for a while before you decide if Joey should stay home? Don't commit yourself to one or the other before you've had a chance to test different options. After all, circumstances can change along the way...
