"She's stogged me b'ye!"

West Channel This is the same shot, 48 hours before.

The Hay River has officially broken free and now the ice is jamming up. Next to the icebergs in Newfoundland, this is one of the most amazing natural phenomenons I have ever seen.

And yes, for all who notice (Jen, Rob) there is a spot on my lens that I can't clean that drives me crazy. I'm getting it serviced when we go back to Halifax in 4 weeks.

And as for the title? If Dad was still around, this is what he would have said seeing these pictures.

What kind of a camera is it Tina? The Rebel xti has a function that if you activate it, teaches the sensor to ignore persistent spots like that.

Also imagine that scene on the mighty MacKenzie just down the road from you. The power of river ice is truly awe inspiring.

It's not the XTI it's the XT. I don't know if it has a function like that, now i'll have to go check!

It's not a spot on your lens, it's a spot on your sensor.

Just order a cheap "rocket blower" and blow it out. Pretty easy to do.

As for software to ignore it, I don't believe the XT supports that. Even on the XTi, it just maps where they are and it is up to your photo editor to actually get rid of them.
