A question for you all

First of all, thanks to Megan I have put a stat counter on my blog and can now see exactly how many people are logging onto the blog on a daily basis, and where they are longing on from. So, with that being said, hello to whoever you are in Singapore, Oxford Junction NS (I'm still trying to figure that one out) and everyone else that never leaves comments but loves to come visit. It seems to be the same people everyday and I love that you keep coming back.

With that being said, I have a question that has been bugging me for the past week or so. Does anyone know an easy way to back up this blog? I realized the other day that I have been writing this blog since February 2004 (crap, that means I missed the 4 year anniversary of the blog!) and there is a lot of stuff I would hate to lose. Part of me wants to print it off and put it in a big book and publish it. But then the rest of me knows that I'm much too lazy to do that. I would like to back it up to data files somehow. Any ideas anyone?

Hey Rob and Tina ..

I use webgrabber to nab my site off of blogger - it downloads the whole thing and stores it locally on your computer. This one is for MAC only though .... http://www.epicware.com/webgrabber.html

but there is also httrack that works with windows ... have no idea how it works though .... http://www.httrack.com/

past those two options there's the blogger way of doing things ... but it looks rather complicated and seems like it could go wrong pretty quickly ... http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=41447

hope this helps

There used to be a site called Blog Binder that could turn your blog into a bound book, however I just looked them up and they are no longer in business.

Lulu.com lets you make one copy books (or more). Not sure how easy it is to transfer a blog as one though. Good luck.

It's pretty neat to see where people are from - but sometimes the information is not quite correct. I think I'm listed as being from Duvens, Varmlands Lan (?) which is not true. This seems to be a common problem with services like this - my own gives some pretty wild locations for persons in Sweden.
As for doind a back-up on the blog - here's someone else who wants to know how to do it!

Great blog, just discovered it this week.

I back up my blog with a recursive download. A little rough around the edges (you get the data, but it's EXACTLY what's on the page), but at least it's backed up.

I have a Mac, I fetched my entire blog with wget on the command line. There are a couple solutions I've seen recommended for Windows. I haven't tried these, but they supposedly work:

http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2007/02/how-to-backup-blogger-blog.html

http://www.codeplex.com/bloggerbackup

These are all variations on the main theme, but they ought to work just fine.
