Goodbye 2005, Hello 2006

It's the end of another year. This has been quite the year for us. Here are a few of the highlights of 2005.

Adam and Genevieve asking us to be godparents to the at that time "Baby Read"

The arrival of the 2nd most beautiful child in the world, our goddaughter Adelle.

I bought a Cavalier, that I fondly named F.C, after it kept shutting off.

Adam bought a beautiful Silverado, and Rob bought Adam's truck.

I sold the aforementioned F.C

I watched my little brother marry a beautiful woman, and had the honor of photographing such event.

Dad finally received a settlement from Worker's Compensation, a fight he begun 12 years ago.

My Aunt Rosemary came to N.S from NL for the very first time.

I took a pregnancy test as a joke, and the joke was on me.

Colby entered his first year of preschool, and after 2 weeks settled in so well the only time he cried is when he had to leave.

My friend Sandra and I have grown closer much closer, becoming almost like sisters. Her kids have also become like extended members of the family, and coming home from a a Frenchy's run or a yardsale without something for all 3 children is a failed event.

I accepted a new job at the Call centre, which has turned out to be the easiest job I have ever done, and the best paying.

My angel turned 4.

My angel got the chicken pox the day before turning 4.

My cousin Kellie Ann came to visit, and stayed with Colby and I most of the time.

Nicole and I made a scrapbook for her grandmother, and had a great time doing it.

We finally took a family picture this Christmas.

I love this picture

I fell in love with this picture. No question who Colby looks like!

We're finally done

Well, it's Christmas eve. The last gifts are wrapped, the stockings are stuffed, Colby is in bed, we're full from food from the Schwartz's Christmas Eve bash, the Game Boy Advance battery pack is charging, the tripod and video camera will soon be set up. I wish Adam, Genevieve and Adelle were closer. I met up with Tawny and Jody today, which was great. Now I'm tired and Miracle on 34th Street still needs to be watched. Merry Christmas everyone!

First kick!

Rob and I were laying in bed last night watching tv and I put my hand on my stomach, as I now do out of habit. Well, didn't I feel a little kick? I couldn't believe it! I grabbed Rob's hand and as soon as he put it on he felt it also! Honestly, he wasn't sure if it was a kick or not, but when he happened again a few minutes later, he was definately sure! They're still light at the moment, and I honestly think it was more of the baby stretching than kicking, but it was definately movement felt from the outside!

We went to Rob's grandmother's 80th birthday party today. What a great day. We spent the afternoon at Brightwood Golf Club, and then off to his Aunt Rose's for a feast. She really seemed to love the scrapbook. Debbie and Trena were down from Ontario, and it was nice to see them. We're almost ready for Christmas. One more day of shopping for me and that's it!

Tough love 101

I finally have 5 minutes to sit and blog so here goes. Colby has become a non-existant eater, and it's extremly frusterating. It began when he got sick, he didn't want breakfast, or he didn't want what I made him so I would make him something else. It came to the point that I was throwing out more than I was feeding him so I thought "Enough is enough! We didn't get to choose when we were kids." Well, let me tell you, I don't know who has done more yelling or crying, me or him. It's very hard to let your child go hungry, but he's got to learn he has to eat what he is given. It's not like I am feeding him stuff he doesn't like. It's the same food he always ate in the past. I'm just varing it. For example, there were times he would eat breakfast, and then want the same thing for lunch and supper. The new rule is all 3 meals have to be different. And, if he doesn't eat breakfast, he has to wait until lunch. That is the hardest part for me. But, here's hoping it works. Getting ready for Christmas has been absoutely maddening in this house. There's just not enough time. I have resorted to shopping online to get my last minute gifts, which is a first for me. Nicole and I have been working like fools trying to get a scrapbook made for her grandmother's 80th birthday, which is Sunday, and getting pictures together has been a nightmare! But, it looks really good and we should have it all done and put together by Saturday. I can't believe Christmas is in less than 2 weeks! AHHHH!

17 weeks yesterday

THIS IS FROM A WEBSITE I AM ADDICTED TO, and yes, to be honest, I'm too tired to actually blog so I'm copying. So sue me. I've provided you wtih reading material.

Mother: Your uterus is now about halfway between your pubic bone and navel. Your secretions all over your body may increase, due to the increased blood volume. So if you are sweating more, have nasal congestion, or are suffering from increased vaginal discharge this is nothing to worry about and will go away after the birth of the baby.

Baby: Your baby is forming brown fat deposits under his or her skin, by the end of pregnancy this will account for 2-6% of their total body weight. This will help them maintain their body temperature when they are born. The baby weighs in at about 5 ounces (142 grams). This means that the baby now weighs more than the placenta. No new structures have formed. Loud noises outside may actually cause the baby to startle.

Can't sleep

Colby had a sleepover at mom's last night and at the last minute I decided to go over there with him when I got off work. Mom said that he hadn't eaten all day and all he did was slept. He was up at about 3:30 and I crawled in his bed with him. I was there about 1/2 hour and he sat up and vomited all over the bed. I got him up, changed him, put him in my bed, stripped his bed, and spent the rest of the night / morning listening for him to get sick again. Dad and mom are both sick, so it's no wonder he picked it up. I managed to catch a couple hours sleep this morning when colby napped with dad in his room, but beyond that I've been awake and going non stop. Mom got her first Christo hamper today, and man, what a pile of food! I can't wait to get mine on Monday. So, I figured, with all this lack of sleep, I would be ready to drop. I was falling asleep around 8:30 in the chair so I got up and started puttering around the house to keep awake until Colby went to bed and I knew he was asleep. Rob went hunting today and thankfully due to today's technology I sent him a text message early this mroning and he was home by 2. We brought Colby home, (I had spent the entire day at mom's) and he slept for another couple of hours, but when he got up it was like he was never sick. The kid is amazing. He had soup for supper, (not a lot, but it's more than he ate in the past 24 hours), 2 big glasses of milk, and a pudding. I gave him some Children's Gravol to help him sleep and prevent him from getting sick through the night to see if he can kick this once and for all. Here's hoping. At this point, I thought I would be sound asleep by now, but no, after a nice long, hot epsom salt / bubble bath, I'm wide awake. *sigh*. Wish I could take something to sleep!

Oh the pressure of not posting!

Again, this is NOT my ultrasound but a picture from a really neat site I visit. I am 16 weeks today, officially 4 months pregnant. And man, do I feel it! I offically have "popped", and we're going to start taking the picture diary to show the "growing belly". But, if I had an ultrasound, today, this is what (s)he would look like! We have also decided that we don't like the original names we have picked out, so like our wonderful friends, right now we have "Baby Schwartz", who I guess could be nicknamed BS? LOL

I can't post from work anymore so my posting has slowed down. I have lots of pictures to scan that I just haven't got to yet. Though, I do have them compiled together.

Yet another vehicle in the driveway

We have another vehicle in the driveway. The Grand Am is still there. So that tells you which vehicle is out of commission. Check out Rob's blog for details. We are aiming to go to the parade of lights tonight. It all depends on if Rob gets the deck done. He's moving the steps from the front to the side for safety's sake. Again, check out his blog for details. Kira and Rebecca are having a birthday party tomorrow. We're going out today to get stuff to finish some christmas presents. Of course, can't put any details on it. I'm off all weekend and will have to post. Kellie was up for the week and had a great time. It was nice to have the company and Colby just loved her. We had our 2nd appointment yesterday at the Grace. Finally heard the baby's heartbeat. I'm also part of a research study about determining the factors of preterm delivery. What that means for me is an extra ultrasound done in the prenatal clinic and not the 1st floor, so here's hoping we get a picture! Rob has also decided that he wants to decorate the baby's room. You're really gotta click here to see it.

How do people function this early??

It's 5:45 and I'm up. Yuck. My cousin Kellie Ann is coming in today from NL for a week. I'm excited about that. But her flight gets in at 6:40 AM. YUCK. We are having Colby's party today. He is very excited about that. Pictures will be posted later as I will be using Dad's digital camera.

Staying up again for Genevieve

I absoutely love the one on the left, as it shows the true Colby. He loves to do that eyebrow thing that just cracks me up. I'm sure my brother is very proud.

Colby went back to preschool today, and when I picked him up he was very upset. Tuesday was picture day, and since he was still sick he stayed home. He was very upset that everyone got a picture but him, and he couldn't understand why. BAD MOMMY AWARD GOES TO TINA.

Denise Ward was the photographer, who I happen to know from the photography club I used to be in. So, I called her when I got home to find out if she was coming back for re-takes. She told me she didn't know BUT I could bring him up to her house and she'd do the pictures for me today. I LOVE HER. So, off we went to Denise's. This is my absolute favorite picture, as the True Colby is very obvious. I spent most of the night at work just staring at it. He has that eyebrow thing down! I'm sure Uncle B is very proud. Needless to say I will be getting copies of this picture! And, to top it off, she is going to photoshop him into the class picture! It's great to know people!

How well I know my friend

Driving home in the car tonight, I just knew there would be a comment from Genevieve about me not blogging. And she's right. Colby is finally over the chicken pox and going back to school tomorrow. I keep forgetting that this is a long weekend so I only have 1 more day of work! Colby and I are going to see Chicken Little on Friday. He's really excited about our date. The Service Engine Light and the Service Vehicle Light have both been off for the last week. I hope that it is finally fixed. My cousin Kellie Ann is flying up this weekend for a visit. I'm going to get her at the airport on Sunday morning, which means she will be here for Colby's party! I had quite a fright coming home tonight. I admit, my mind was wandering as I drove home and on the road to my house I just happened to catch sight of movement and THERE WAS A DEER STANDING IN SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY! HOLY SHIT! Though, I'm sure if Rob was awake when I got home, that poor little deer would not be there for much longer! The husbands are going out again on Friday, and I truly hope that they do not get a deer, because I will have no freezer space left! We all went out as a family (Rob, Adam, Colby and I) in Adam's truck on Sunday. They took me back where they hunt. Well, let's just say it was an adventure. Adam definately drives that truck LIKE A TRUCK. At one point, they parked straddling a creek, and the only reason they stopped is because the truck could not climb the bank on the other side. Bunch of weirdos. But Colby loves it.

So my dear friend Genevieve, this will have to do for tonight. It's 1:05AM and I'm going to bed. Maybe you should start your own, and not one about how I don't blog enough!

Pictures

I'm going to need many sets of batteries for this.

Thank god for Mr. Clean Magic Eraser as those tires mark the floor! Spider-man, Spider-man, every little boy needs a spider man cake!

Yes, my son received scratch tickets in 3 of his birthday cards and LOVE IT!

Weekend in Summary

This has been a long weekend. I have been off work since Thursday with Colby. His chicken box are in full swing now, but luckily most of them have broken. We put in a long night last night and I'm praying he sleeps through the night. We had a little cake for him last night because, well, it was his birthday. We bought him a race track with controlled cars, which he loves. Mom and dad gave him his West Coast Choppers bike, Poppa came out which just thrilled Colby and gave him a bunch of stuff, including a Sponge Bob writing set which he won't put down. We went out today to get him out of the house and he helped me deliver my Avon stuff. I took him over to mom's frankly, for a break for me but we didn't end up staying long because he wanted to come home and go to bed. My poor little angel.

After much debate and discussion we decided to return Koda to GPAC, to be placed with another family. I contacted GPAC last week and we took him back today. It was a hard day for all of us, especially Rob, but it's the best thing for everyone, most importantly the dog. He was not getting the attention he deserved, and with the baby there would be no room for him. He's better off. The house is very quiet now, and it's weird not to have to fight to get in the door. But it will get easier.

Guess what Colby got for his birthday?

This is how most of my day was spent today. As you can see, my little angel has the chicken pops, as he calls them. I called the Grace to see if there was any danger to me and because I've already had them there's not. Needless to say, his party has been postponed for a week so he can get over this. We're still having a little party here at the house for him tomorrow, because, well I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a rough day and hopefully that will cheer him up.

Update

Much to post, not enough time, lots of drama. Car is fixed. 5 hours at Forbes yesterday. Details to follow. Here is one of Colby's Halloween pictures. I don't have mine developed yet. Should get those shortly.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Rob was suppose to work tonight, but now has the night off so he's coming home! I'm soo excited! That way, we can both be there to hand out candy and take Colby trick or treating! I'll be taking lots of pictures and will have them posted tomorrow or Wednesday, as I'm going to get the developed when I take Colby to preschool in the morning.

Murderers

My husbands are murderers. I'm sure that there will be lots of gory details. If you want to read about it, click here. I am taking the car back to Forbes on Monday. Should be interesting to see what they say. I am now off for the next 2 days and plan to enjoy it. Colby played Indoor Golf (the glow in the dark one) with Gramma Jeannine today. I didn't think she was ever going to bring him home! I must admit, it was nice to have the afternoon to myself. Sandra and I are going to some taste testing thing tomorrow at some woman's house. All I know is that it's a couple hours out of the house and there's good food! Count me in!

I knew I should not have gotten up

Last night ended really crappy. Rob's dad had my car, and since the truck is running, well, really shitty until it's fixed on Monday I had to get my own way to work. Dad drove me in and I had an arrangement with a friend of mine for her and her bf to drive me home. Well, he's working at the IWK and ended up staying later than normal. So, I thought, it won't cost that much, I'll take a cab home. It only takes me 10 minutes to get home, so how much can it cost? $30.00! and I actually ran out of money before getting back to the driveway and I was afraid he was going to make me walk. He was foreign and I must admit I had a hard time understanding what he was saying. So, of course, I came in, stomped around and was really frazzled. Whatever. So, of course it takes me forever to fall asleep and I was to be at work for 6am this morning. That didn't happen. To find out, I get up to go in for 7 and I left my flippin' keys in dad's car! So, luckily my brother is in town for the weekend (damned if I didn't remember that last night) and he is on his way over with my keys. AND, to top it all off, the flippin' warning lights are back on in the Grand Am. Both the Service Engine Light and the Service Vehicle Light are on. I'm gonna have a fit on Forbes come Monday. Wait, they're open today! WOO HOO! Where's the damn number?

Like father like son

Colby and I were in Superstore this morning buying groceries and we met up with Frank, Adam's father. It is very obvious where Adam gets his "tormenting nature". For example, I was trying to convince Colby that Cheerios would be a good snack to have (as he asked earlier in the week for Cheerios), when out of no where Frank appears next to us and says to Colby "You don't want that, that's healthy food, get the sugar ones!" Needless to say, the cheerios did not end up in my cart. But, sugar cereal did not either!

Officially out of the 1st trimester!

I am 12 weeks today. Goodbye first trimester, bring on 2nd trimester! I swear I'm popping already! Colby had his halloween party at preschool today. I, of course, went in and took pictures of the class all dressed up. I could just eat the face off my kid he's soo cute!

Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Oh the drama

More truck issues. Nothing more needs to be said. Bring on mat leave!

Oh I love the New York accent!

I am sitting here at work (shhh) listening to a call from an older lady from Brooklyn, NY. There is nothing like this accent! I just called Christo Hampers to see when my order is coming, and it should be here between thd 27th of November and 17th of December. I will be receiving a letter letting me know exactly when it will arrive. I can't wait! I have 3 hampers coming, totalling just under 600.00. That's my groceries for the month of December! I'll probably end up sending some of it into my sister and Anthony also. Anthony is now working full time. He's working for a contractor who was working at Winners. Rob set it up for him and from the sounds of it he really likes it! I'm just glad he's working again, and I'm sure he is too!

Monday, October 24, 2005

Bring on the rain!

We're suppose to get the tail end of Hurricane Wilma starting tomorrow. I hate being teased with a hurricane. Either we're gonna get a full blown hurricane or we're not. Frankly, I would enjoy the time off work! And, if we are to get a full blown hurricane, I need to know the best place to park the car where it will have the greatest chance of being squashed by a tree. I am getting a crib mattress from Freecycle. Hopefully I should get it this week. I love this site! I also got more christmas mugs today, so Sandra and I are going to go splits on a box of chocolates and make up some mugs as christmas gifts. I am also going to get the instructions on how to make snowman soup, and probably make some mugs up for that also. Just to be different. Christmas is right around the corner and I have to really get in gear for it!

Sunday, October 23, 2005

Oh the Guilt!

I just got off the phone with Genevieve who again reminded me that I must remember to update my blog. I have been busy trying to plan Colby's birthday party, which we are having on the 6th of November. Adam and Genevieve may be in town for then which will be great!

I went to Cole's last night to find a book for Colby about being a big brother. I did find one, but I also found a book about a little boy getting his first Toronto Maple Leafs Jersey, which of course could not be passed up. And, who but Poppy to read it for the first time?

Dad took Colby to Zellers and showed him the West Coast Choppers kids bike. Take a wild guess what this kid is getting for his birthday!

This is NOT my ultrasound

For the record, this is NOT my ultrasound picture. The nurse yesterday wouldn't give us one. But, this is a picture of a baby at 11 weeks, which is what we say yesterday. Tomorrow is officially 11 weeks.

Tuesday, October 18, 2005

Cranky nurse

We had the ultrasound. I am officially 10 weeks and 5 days pregnant today. The nurse that we had was not .. well.... she wouldn't let us take pictures and she would not / could not give us a picture of the baby. I was really upset when I left. There is no reason, since we had the digital camera, that we could not have snapped a picture or 2. Oh well. The good thing is that Colby got to see the baby, which was very exciting to me. The baby was facing us, which was really neat. We got to see the arms and legs (still little stumps for now), the heartbeat and the face. It was quite amazing. We have to go back at 20 weeks for another ultrasound and here's hoping that we get a less cranky nurse! Oh, and the most important part, THERE'S ONLY 1.

Ultrasound Day!

We're off to the hospital in an hour for our first ultrasound. I'm bringing Dad's digital camera to get a couple pictures (hopefully) of Colby when he sees the baby. I'm also hoping that they will give us one of the little pictures for the baby book. Check back in later today for the result!

Saturday, October 15, 2005

yummy

Adam just sent me this picture of Rob that he took yesterday and I absoutely LOVE it! Can't decide whether I'm proud of this picture or disturbed that my 4 year old is that close to a gun. He tells me he had loads of fun, and let's face it, with an outdoor dad like Rob it was only a matter of time!

No one said we're the brightest bunch

Today is my mom's birthday, and I'll blog about that when I have more time. Dad bought mom an electric fireplace for the livingroom, which she desperately wanted. We had Dad's camera over the weekend and gave it back to him yesterday to take the pictures off for us. Well, of course, any picture of Colby mom wants to see. You tell me why we're not a bright bunch. HINT: Look in the backround of the pictures.

First prenatal appointment

We have our first prenatal appointment in the morning. Hopefully we will be able to hear the heartbeat! We have our first ultrasound on Tuesday morning and we're taking Colby with us! I'm going to take Dad's digital camera with us and hopefully we get a good nurse!

First preschool outing

This is most of Colby's class walking to the library. He loved it. He didn't know I was taking the picture as I was across the street. So, from the outside, I MAY have looked like a staulker with a camera with a big zoom lens, but I got the shot I wanted!

Once upon a time......

A and G were in town this weekend and came over Saturday night for a while. We sat around, ate natchos and wings, and played a card came called Sequence. It involves a very large board and 2 decks of cards. It was a great time! Everytime G and I would win, before she would put down the winning card she would say "Once upon a time... " and start a very funny story. By the end of the night we were all in stitches. And A, with a combination of fatigue and alcohol, (more fatigue in my opinion as they drove all day in the rain to get here), could not remember to pick up a card after he put one down. This is a game where it is manditory to have 6 cards in your hand, and at one point he only had 2! So, of course, me being me, kept asking him "Hea Adam, how many cards do you have?" It was a fun weekend. Rob and I were sitting in the livingroom last night, Rob on the computer and Colby and I watching TV. I can't remember what we were watching, but at one point there was a woman in a bikini top. Colby looked at me and asked, "Mommy, what would happen if she had nothing on her boobies?" Through my fit of laughter, as this was a very serious question by my 4 year old, I said "Ask your father" who had not heard this comment. When I asked Colby to repeat his question to Rob, all Rob could do is laugh and Hi 5 Colby. I love living with men.

Tuesday, October 04, 2005

I have got to blog more!

A&G were up on the weekend and we all had a great time. Colby got to hold Adele, and stupid me forgot to take a picture of it! That's alright, they'll be back this weekend. The 4 of us are going out without other friends and kids. Just like the old days. I'm quite excited. G's mother is also coming up and I can't wait to see her. I have my first appointment at the Grace on Friday, October 14th. My family doctor does not deliver so he referred me right in there. I also have my ultrasound on October 18th, so I can finally see this little monster! I have already bought 2 things off Ebay, and if I'm not careful I'm going to get in big trouble with it! I bought 7 Avent bottles with rings, nipples and covers for 20.00 Canadian, and I bought a Fetal Heartrate Monitor for 17.00 Canadian. I can't wait to get the monitor! Colby went on a field trip with his preschool today to the library, and like fools Sandra and I sat in the Tim Hortons parkinglot and watched them walk by. I of course had my camera and should have pictures to post shortly. Sandra is soo excited about the baby that she showed up with ALL this stuff. It's hard to see in the picture but it's an entire bedroom set in Noah's Ark, and the box in the back is FULL of gender non-specific baby clothes.

Dr's Appt tomorrow

I have a Dr's appointment tomorrow to get all the paperwork done to refer me to the Grace. My family dr does not deliver, so he is referring me to one of the doctors in there. I am hoping to be able to hear the baby's heartbeat tomorrow, and my ultrasound is booked for October 18th. I am really hoping that they will give us pictures, but if not we're planning on bringing a digital camera and the video camera! I'm not missing it this time around as we only have 1 ultrasound picture of Colby and that was at 7 weeks! We're also have a little informal get together at the house this weekend with A&G and Adelle, G's friend Erin and Adam. Initially it was planned as a houseparty at Erin's house, but plans changed and the 6 of us are just going to hang out at the house. That way G and I don't have to worry about babysitters as the kids can just sleep at the house. We're bringing the cradle over for Adelle this weekend so she'll have a place to sleep, and we need to have it at the house anyways!

The cutest jokes I have read in a long time

  1. A kindergarten pupil told his teacher he'd found a cat, but it was dead. "How do you know that the cat was dead?" she asked her pupil. "Because I pissed in its ear and it didn't move," answered the child innocently. You did WHAT ? ! ?" the teacher exclaimed in surprise. "You know, "explained the boy, "I leaned over and went 'Pssst!' and it didn't move."
  2. 2. A small boy is sent to bed by his father.Five minutes later....."Da-ad....""What?""I'm thirsty. Can you bring drink of water?""No, You had your chance. Lights out."Five minutes later: "Da-aaaad.....""WHAT?""I'm THIRSTY. Can I have a drink of water??"I told you NO! If you ask again, I'll have to spank you!!"Five minutes later......"Daaaa-aaaad.....""WHAT!"When you come in to spank me, can you bring a drink of water?"
  3. An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him "How do you expect to get into Heaven?"The boy thought it over and said,Well, I'll run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the dooruntil St Peter says, 'For Heaven's sake, Dylan, come in or stay out!'"
  4. One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her son into bed.She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in hisvoice, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?"The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. I can't dear," she said. "I have to sleep in Daddy's room."A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice:"The big sissy."
  5. It was that time, during the Sunday morning service, for the children'ssermon. All the children were invited to come forward. One little girl was wearing a particularly pretty dress and,as she sat down, the pastor leaned over and said,"That is a very pretty dress. Is it your Easter Dress?"The little girl replied, directly into the pastor's clip-on microphone,"Yes, and my Mom says it's a bitch to iron."
  6. When I was six months pregnant with my third child, my three year oldcame into the room when I was just getting ready to get intothe shower. She said, "Mommy, you are getting fat!"I replied, "Yes, honey, remember Mommy has a baby growing in her tummy.""I know," she replied, but what's growing in your butt?"
  7. A little boy was doing his math homework. He said to himself,"Two plus five, that son of a bitch is seven.Three plus six, that son of a bitch is nine...."His mother heard what he was saying and gasped, "What are you doing?"The little boy answered, "I'm doing my math homework, Mom.""And this is how your teacher taught you to do it?" the mother asked."Yes," he answered.Infuriated, the mother asked the teacher the next day, "What are youteaching my son in math?"The teacher replied, "Right now, we are learning addition."The mother asked, "And are you teaching them to say two plus two, that sonof a bitch is four?"After the teacher stopped laughing, she answered, "What I taught them was,two plus two, THE SUM OF WHICH, is four."
  8. One day the first grade teacher was reading the story of Chicken Littleto her class. She came to the part of the story where Chicken Little triedto warn the farmer. She read, ".... and so ChickenLittle went up to the farmer and said, "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!"The teacher paused then asked the class,"And what do you think that farmer said?"One little girl raised her hand and said,"I think he said: 'Holy Shit! A talking chicken!'"The teacher was unable to teach for the next 10 minutes.9. A certain little girl, when asked her name, would reply,"I'm Mr. Sugarbrown's daughter."Her mother told her this was wrong, she must say, "I'm Jane Sugarbrown."The Vicar spoke to her in Sunday School, and said,"Aren't you Mr. Sugarbrown's daughter?"She replied, "I thought I was, but mother says I'm not."
  9. A little girl asked her mother, "Can I go outside and play with the boys?"Her mother replied, "No, you can't play with the boys, they're too rough."The little girl thought about it for a few moments and asked,"If I can find a smooth one, can I play with him?"

My Friends Top 5

I have been doing a lot of thinking about my Friends Top 5 list, and Matthew McConnhay continues to rank #1. I was trying to find a picture of him from the Wedding Planner, which is my all time favorite movie. My all time favorite part in this movie is when he is in his office with Mary and he introduces himself to Penny saying "Steve Edison", but giggles when he says it. I grin just thinking about it. This is my 2nd favorite scene from the movie, where he just saves Mary. She says to him in this scene, "You saved my shoe.. my life" to which he replies "I was going for the shoe". I also have a totally different look on chocolate covered candies, especially the brown ones, because, they have less artificial favor, because chocolate is already brown. I really need to go watch the movie again.

New blogs!

Blogs are everywhere! Check out the sidebar of the Blogs I read. You will see I added 2. Kassie's, which is HILARIOUS, and Rob's, which is new and full of pictures of them in the woods being boys. I have the appointment for my ultrasound on October 18th. I was also contacted by a woman who does scrapbooking parties, and I'm going to set up one here at the house on some Sunday. Hea Genevieve, if I set it up early on the weekend you guys are here will you stay for it? I'm thinking around 1ish. It would be cool to have you here. And it's FREE. And of course, anyone else who reads this in metro is more than welcome to come. I'm going to have it here at the house.

Going to blog more

According to Genevieve, I don't blog enough. Well, it's because I have nothing to say! I bought 2 new pairs of pants (one jeans with the panel but frayed on the bottom, really cute), a pair of sweatpants and a shirt which I am currently wearing. I go for bloodwork again tomorrow and I am anxiously waiting to hear the appointment for the ultrasound to see how far along I am! I am now getting used to the whole idea of having another baby, I think it's finally starting to sink in for us!

Sometimes I'm so proud of my little man

When I picked Colby up from pre-school today, his teacher pulled me aside and told me what a big help Colby was today. A special needs little boy joined their class today, who is about the same size and age as Colby. His teacher told me that in gym class today, they have a bike built for 2 (like a little police patty wagon) and Colby drove him all round the gym, going slowly as not to scare him and constantly asking him "Max, are you ok? Are you having fun?" I admit, I welled up when she told me that. Children can be really cruel, but yet here's my little angel, playing with another little angel as if there were no differences between them at all. When I asked Colby about Max, he told me quite excitedly that they had the same hair color (they're both blonde). Colby didn't once mention that Max couldn't walk well, and I don't know if he has any developmental problems, but all Colby took away from him is that Max is his new friend and they have the same hair color.

Let's see how many comments I get now!

It's hard to see, but yes, there are 2 lines on this. And yes, it's mine.

Another day.....

Well, Ophelia didn't amount to much. I must admit I was quite dissapointed. Colby is off to preschool in the morning, they're walking to the library tomorrow to see a puppet show. I'm going to sit in a parking lot across the street and take pictures of them walking.

This is Adelle. A and G said that I can (finally) post pictures of her on my blog. I love LOVE this picture! At this point, Rob is watching the end of Alexander, and I just can't stomach it so I figured now was a good time to turn my back on it. I must go find a book to read. The Planet Walk got postponed until next week so you'll have to wait until then for pictures!

Bracing for Ophelia

So we're told we were to have this big tropical storm. I skipped my day long scrapbooking because I didn't want to be out and get caught in it, and it looks like so far it's nothing but a bit of rain! *angry man fist at Mother Nature!* Colby is settling in well at pre-school, and can't wait to go back. I am very relieved. I was quite worried at first. I'm looking forward to having Rob home tomorrow, so we can pack the 4 loads of laundry that I washed today! A&G will be up on the weekend and we're going out with them on Saturday night. We're bringing Adam with us as G has a friend that is there that is "cute, single and looking". Keep your fingers crossed for Adam!

Pictures from the weekend

I just loved this. I have never seen a rainbow like this one. Only in Cape Breton! Here is a picture of the end of the rainbow. We chased this for almost 1/2 hour. I love this picture. She is very obviously Daddy's little girl. I will post more when A&G get the pictures I mailed them so they will have some surprise when they open them.

What to do with my time!?

Colby had a better day at pre-school today. He didn't cry when I left him, so that's a big bonus. I was quite upset when we brought him there Tuesday, which is very upsetting for me. I have had my first 2 hours of alone time this morning and after 3 loads of laundry, watching the finale of Canadian Idol (Rex should have one) and now updating this. Now I don't know what to do with my time. I'm sure I'll get used to this though. I am in an all day scrapbooking thing on Saturday. I'm hoping to get some good ideas to start putting books together. Then of course the Greyhound Planet Day Walk on Sunday. There will be lots of pictures! I'm taking Dad's digital camera so I'll have pictures that night!

See Dad I **DO** have it!

This is one of my all time favorite pictures of Colby. Dad has this one enlarged in his livingroom and won't give it to me. I guess this is the next best thing.

Change in format

I have to restrict comments being left on my blog due to people leaving solictiting comments that I don't like. For everyone that is reading this right now, can you make a quick comment letting me know exactly who is leaving comments / reading. I am making a members list for this blog, and I need to compile a list. It's much easier to do it this way. Just please leave me a little comment letting me know that you're reading and want to be added to the members list.

Chasing rainbows and stealing sunglasses

Well, we're back from Cape Breton and we had a ball. I got off work at 9:30PM Friday night and went home and slept. Rob and I went to bed at 10 and got up at 1AM. I figure by the time we stopped tossing and turning it was more like 11 so we had 2 hours sleep. We loaded up the VW Golf and off we went. We made it at the Crant residence at 6:30AM and were wide awake. Rob went golfing with Jim and Adam, and Genevieve, her mom Alice, Adelle and I hit the road for some second hand shops. Actually, before this, I mentioned to Genevieve around 7am that I had brought some Avon products with me, and by 8am they were all over the table and half sold between Genevieve and Alice. By 9, 2 neighbours had been called about "Tina's blue light special" on Avon, and the rest of it was all gone! It was the easiest 60.00 I have ever made! I took that money and had a blast at 2nd hand shops. I bought a beautiful new black winter jacket, a spider man pillow for Colby, a Space Jam throw for Colby, a new fall jacket for Colby (Do you see a pattern here?), and some shirts for Rob. I fell asleep 2x in the back of the car with Adelle. We had chinese food for lunch and then headed back to Alice's. It rained like crazy for a few minutes, and of course after a big rain shower comes a rainbow! Alice went up to the store, and came flying back in the driveway saying "Tina, get your camera and get in the car!" We ended up chasing the rainbow and for the first time in my life I found the end of it! The pictures are amazing and once I get them scanned I will update this post with the pictures. Rob fell asleep sitting up at 9pm so we headed back to the cabin that A&G rented for us. Sunday morning we had a great breakfast at a little diner and then went to top up the Golf. When we pulled in there was a man in a big chev truck filling his truck. We topped up the Golf (which was Full service! Imagine, 1.08/l and it was full serve!) and it only cost us 24.00 to top it off. We only burned 1/2 tank all the way down there and with our running around the next day. In total, we spent 48.00 on fuel there and back. We're definately looking into a diesel next year! Anyways, so we went to the christening, which was great and then booted it on home. Adelle is a little doll. We both fell hopelessly in love. Genevieve's parents are also wonderful people. The Crant house is the type of house that when you're there an hour, you're curled up on the couch with a blanket, napping with the baby. Well, ok, that's what I did, but the house was comfortable enough to do that in! I also have Avon orders that I will be mailing down to them! It was a great weekend. I can't wait to go back. I got the pictures back tonight of the christening, and A&G said that I can post them. There are a couple that I will put on the other site, one in particular of Adam and Adelle that I just love. I want to play with it a little first and then I'll post it. When I got home, I realized that I had accidently took Adam's sunglasses clips. I don't think I'm his favorite person right now, but I know he still loves me!

Cape Breton here with come!

We're off to Cape Breton tonight for Adelle's christening. We are hoping to sleep for a couple hours tonight and be on the road by 1Am to be there for the morning. I will be taking lots of pictures, and some of the car for Colby!

Who knew?

Who knew that Rob was soo talented?! This is the 3rd jacket made so far. I'm soon going to hire him out!

There are some good people left!

With the latest gas prices, Rob and I were seriously contemplating how we were going to be able to go to Cape Breton next weekend for our god daughter's christening. Gas is not something we even factored in when we told A&G that we would be down. Of course, as god parents we really should be there. I had a guy from work and his fiancee lined up to stay at the house for the weekend we were away with Koda, but without getting into details they are no longer together and he told me the other day that he was no longer able to stay at the house. I had talked with a woman in my office named Leanne when I found out about the breakup, just to see if her and her bf would cover for me. She, god love her, said she would immediately. I spoke to her again about it when I found out that I was without a dog sitter, and she said that she had already mentioned it to her bf and he was excited about the prospect of spending the weekend. She lives with her grandmother and he has room mates, so privacy is something that they crave. We had plans this weekend to go to the Cameron's Labor Day Bash in Bridgewater with the motorhome, but again with gas prices we cancelled those plans. I was on the phone at work talking to Rob about cancelling the plans for the motorhome and mentioned to him the cost that was going to be involved in travelling to Cape Breton. Leanne, who sits behind and across from me (picture an X, I'm the top left and she's the bottom right). Anyways, she pipes up "Since I'll be at your house the entire weekend, you should just take my car". She drives a VW Golf DIESEL. Diesel prices right now are still 99.9, and she gets 1000/km to a tank of fuel. So, we're off to Cape Breton in a new VW Golf! She's just such a kind spirit, and to generously offer her fuel economic vehicle just tops it! Cancelling Cape Breton was really never an option, even if we had to shuttle it down, but this is the absolute perfect situation!

128.9 / 131.9

Do I have to say anymore?????? In one day our gas went from 110.9 to 131.9! WHEN WILL IT END? We cancelled our plans for the weekend as we were going away in the motorhome. I can barely put gas in the 2 vehicles, I'm NOT putting gas in the motorhome! GRRR!!!

120.9/L

This is beyond discusting. Mom called me from work stating that gas was going up, and it has in the city. IT WENT UP 0.09/LITRE! It's coming to the point that I'm not going to be able to afford to go to work! It cost me 50.00 to fill the Grand Am today, so I can just imagine how much it's going to cost to fill the truck. grrrr!

Weekend in review

I went to Pier 22 on Friday night for a work function - the food was amazing. There was bbq chicken, poached salmon and salads galore. Of course, a big function like that had to have the most amazing desserts! Rob and I have started weight watchers again, if nothing else but to lose the 10 lbs we put on over our vacation. It seems to be going alright, we're not losing steam yet! Mom, Dad, Colby and I went to an estate auction this morning. I bought a rubbermaid sled for Colby for 5.00, 2 brand new Hewlett Packard Printers with extra ink (brand new), and in the same lot there was a panasonic cordless phone (not sure if it works or not), some other crazy computer stuff, a couple really nice zipper binders, all of that (including the printers) was 35.00, and I bought a mini acquarium with all the fixin's for 5.00. It was a good morning. Mom bought a box full of really high end pots for 20.00 and dad bought a cute little man-chopping-wood weather vane for 20.00. Overall it was a good morning. We went to Rob's Aunt Rose's for a family bbq last night. All the family was there including Rob's aunt and uncle from Ontario. The food was AMAZING. I was suppose to go to a dog wash charity thing today but on my own with the dog and Colby is a bit challenging, and honestly, with gas still at 110.9/ltr, it's hard to justify driving almost an hour each way to spend money. I'll see all the dogs and their owners in a few weeks at Plant Walk on September 18th. This is a walk in Halifax for greyhounds only. Last year there was about 60 dogs. This will be our first planet walk and it should be fun. There will be walks all over the world on the same day just for greys. We're going to Nicole's for supper tonight. When I asked her what we were having, she asked me what I wanted. I joked and said "gourmet", which is K.D. Knowing Nicole that's what she'll make!

Friends top 5

I read Tawny's blog religiously everyday and keep looking at her Friends Top 5 list. I think I'm going to compile one for myself. It's something that I'm going to have to think about over the next day or so. Keep watching! As soon as Tawny (hopefully) helps me put it on my blog, you'll see it! But I think I'll take it one step further and make 2 lists, one of men and one of women. I have a lot of thinking to do.

Oh my

Comments heard from my son that make me proud to be the other of a boy:

  • Mommy, why can't I pee in the woods?
  • Mommy, want to see my birdie dance? (said as he is running around the house naked)
  • Mommy, I have to pee and my birdie is making my pants stand up.

I am not making any of these up. I wish I was.

In love again

I have fallen in love... again. Everyone that knows me knows that I am a HUGE country music fan, and have always had a soft spot in my heart for Paul Brandt. I saw for the first time his new video, Alberta Bound. It's on right now. *sigh*. If I were to have a "Friends" top 5 list, he would be numbers 1-10. There's just something about him. In other news..... (yes, I'm done, the video is over). I took Koda to his first Meet and Greet yesterday in Mic Mac Mall. He loved it. He's such a social butterfly. I will have pictures next week when I get them developed. We're hoping to take him on a walk this afternoon with other greyhounds. We have been trying to get to these walks for the past couple of weeks, and hopefully we make it today. We're then going to Rob's parents house for a bbq as they are leaving on an Alaskan Cruise on Tuesday for 19 days. I'm very happy for them. They have been talking about this for as long as I can remember, and they're going to renew their vows on ship. I can't wait to see their pictures when they come back.

Disturbing

I am becoming quite an active member in GPAC, or Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada. I am forever reading and posting on their chat board, and someone mentioned feeding their grey Iams. Well, let me tell you I'll never buy it. I did not know the history of Iams, but they do all their testing for their products on animals. There was a big undercover report that was done showing exactly how these animals were treated. I was physically sick to my stomach watching this. If you dare, the website is http://www.iamscruelty.com/, but honestly, I warn you, it's gruesome.

Not much to post

Not much to post today. The truck is back on the road and running again, 2 inches higher than it was a week ago and a new alternator and battery. Colby and I are on are own tonight as Rob is working tonight and we're having the Chenell family over for a bbq for supper tomorrow night. Was hoping to catch the buskers tomorrow but I'm not seeing that happening, as Dad is painting the new deck and we're going over to help. I feel obligated to put something on this blog because I know how frusterating it is to read other people's blogs and they don't update for a week (TAWNY). hehehe. We're heading to Kelly's parents cottage in 2 weeks with the motorhome and I can't wait. Then, it's off to Cape Breton for Adelle's christening. I'm really looking forward to the weekend away. I'm actually looking forward to the drive down and back, so Rob and I can actually have some time together! I believe Adam and Genevieve are coming up sometime this month with the baby, and from the pics that she has sent she's changing soo much! I can't wait to see them!

Help

Anyone know of a cheap way to have printing done? We are trying to start a new fundraiser for GPAC and are thinking on compiling a Cookbook for Dogs. Since this is all non profit, anyone have any ideas how we could get it printed real cheap or know of someone in metro who would be willing to donate?

More wedding pics!

What a silly goose!

What a silly goose I am!? I just realized that the tiny button at the top of creating a post called Add Image will actually ADD AN IMAGE to your blogger! And I've been doing it the long way all this time! Look out for the pictures coming now!

I may have a knack for this photography stuff?!

I took pictures Friday night of a guy from work and his fiancee. If I do say so myself, they turned out quite well. I haven't received official permission from them to post their pics, but one little picture won't hurt, right?!

So much to blog.. so little time

I now have a minute to write about everything that has gone on for the past week and I'm drawing a complete blank. My relatives came down for the wedding, Uncle Mike from Ontario, Aunt Rene and her sons Gregory (11) and George (15), my Uncle Clar and his wife Rosemary (who has never been here) all arrived Thursday before the wedding. Friday we had a bbq at mom's for all the family that arrived and my dad had a FEW too many to drink ( he drank most of a 2-4 himself). Rob helped him along with 3/4 of a 40 oz of rum by himself. Saturday morning had me meeting up with Kelly and taking many rolls of film. The wedding was beautiful and the meal at the reception was amazing. We stayed at the hall until 12:30 and Colby was awake and there the entire time. He was a complete doll. BJ sang Try by Blue Rodeo at the wedding and he did an amazing job. No one from the family knew that BJ could sing. They spend a lot of time at karoake and it shows. Sunday had us at the gift opening, and Sunday night had us at my Aunt Rose's for a family dinner, Newfoundland style. Turkey, dressing, greens and all the trimmings. Monday we spent with my Aunt and Uncle, Monday night we went out to dinner at Boston Pizza for our anniversary, Tuesday we had planned to have Gregory and George come out for the night but Colby got sick ( I would think from him being soo off schedule), Wednesday we went to the beach and had George and Gregory for the night, and Thursday everyone went home. In between all this Rob and Dad put an extension on Dad's deck and they are now fixing Rob's truck. We were in a parade with Koda yesterday and now I'm home just relaxing. Oh, and Friday night I took pics of Dave and Heather from work in Dartmouth. I had to replace the batteries in the camera. I'm surprised it's not smoking! Today we are having a turkey dinner at mom's. I need to go back to work just to get back on schedule!

Trying to post pictures

I'm having a really hard time posting the black and white pictures so I'm trying to cheat. Click here and hopefully this works.
